Marc Edelstein

String Bass, Electric Bass

Once Marc heard John Lee Hooker as a boy, he knew he wanted to play deep powerful music like that.  Since that time, he has become one of Chicago’s foremost roots music players in Blues (John Primer’s Real Deal, The Cash Box Kings, Lynne Jordan, Peaches Staten, Donna Herula Band, jamming with Hound Dog Taylor), Bluegrass (co-founder Special Consensus, Andy Statman, David Bromberg), Country (Robbie Fulks, Diamondback), Rockabilly (Million Dollar Quartet Chicago cast, Elvis tribute artists), and many other music styles.

The Blues is the pulse in all of these styles, which is why Marc is thrilled to be performing with John Primer and Donna Herula in this Delta and Chicago blues influenced band.

Tony Wittrock

Mandolin

A child of the 60’s, Tony Wittrock discovered his love of music listening to British Invasion bands of the day. Tony devoured clips of the Beatles and Stones, with their hordes of screaming fans, and thought, “Now that’s the job for me!” A deeper dive into those bands’ inspirations introduced Tony to Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Junior Wells and other Blues greats. Seeing these ground-breaking artists LIVE on stage, solidified his love for the genre.  When a twist of fate in 2020 led to reconnecting with friend and musician, Donna Herula, both agreed it might be time to put their musical connection to work. Shortly thereafter, Tony picked up the mandolin. Tony’s multi-instrumental talents have put him in shows and on stages Stateside and Worldwide, including Clarksdale Mississippi’s Juke Joint Festival, Helena Arkansas’ King Biscuit Radio Hour, Austria’s Rockabilly Bombardment, The Lucerne (Switzerland’s) Blues Festival, and a myriad of festivals throughout the Country.

John Primer, Donna Herula and Marc Edelstein joined forces to collaborate and celebrate the styles and sounds of blues and bluegrass! Staying true to the traditional folk genre, these award winning, legendary musicians each bring their own very unique style to the group. The sounds of real deal Chicago blues, delta slide and deep down bluegrass rhythms all come together in one incredible band! This is a very powerful trio, but when you add the sounds of Tony Writtrock on mandolin and Kenny Smith on drums it becomes unstoppable! We hope you will come on out and see them perform together soon and see for yourself how incredible they truly are!
